The Velay green clay is diferent compare to other clays on the market because of its composition. Since the tertiary era, clays’ banks are located at the feet of the Auvergne volcanoes.
This natural blend of pure clays has unique properties: a high absorption and adsorption (cationic exchange capacity). This clayed mineral at 3 layers is non brous with a high covering powder. The humidity rate 4 to 6%- is extremely low, thanks to an innovating drying technique.
The Velay green clay is a natural mineral, aluminum silicate type with a laminated structure (phyllosilicates). This clay is unique because naturally composed by a natural mix of three dierent clays with complementary properties and virtues (mainly composed by the illite, the kaolinite and the montmorillonite). The Velay green clay is quartz free

In 40 years Argile du Velay began the French leader of colored clays’ extraction with an international presence in more than 50 countries. We are oering a huge range of French clays with high clayed purities. All our clays are 100% natural and certied and so can be used in the formulation of organic products. Among them: the Velay green clay, extracted at the feet of the Auvergne volcanoes, dried at the sun but not only! … Thanks to its know-how, Argile du Velay is oering a large range of applications applied on several markets such as the cosmetics, the thermalism, the animal hygiene, the animal feed, the horses’ well-being and the agriculture.

Mycotoxins are toxic substances for humans and animals, developed by molds in foodstuffs. The most important and most dangerous is aflatoxin B1. In ruminants, clinical signs of intoxication appear from 1.5 to 2.23 mg of aflatoxin B1 / kg of foodat adults and from 50mg/kg in small ruminants.
Altered hepatic, ruminal and digestive functions associated with a significant decrease in production. Long exposure could lead to liver tumors.
In the case of dairy products, pollution by the presence of mycotoxins in animal milk is found in milk about 12 hours after ingestion."
In vitro assays to define the optimal level of use of Velay Green Clay Test
considered as the most dangerous naturally occurring toxin which has a carcinogenic effect. In dairy cows, ingested aflatoxin B1 is metabolized into carcinogenic aflatoxin M1 which is eliminated through milk, thus posing a risk for consumer health.
Because of this risk for humans and animals, this toxin is regulated at European level [maximum 5 µg/kg in a feed at 12% moisture].
It is therefore important to demonstrate that the Velay Green Clay has an adsorbing effect on aflatoxin B1 in feed, inducing a lower amount of aflatoxin M1 transformed in the liver and then found in milk.
